Ombre..Chic or Shabby??

Bad Ombre

Ombre is a beautiful way to describe a look and hair coloring technique where the idea is to create rich softness at the roots and gradual light pieces on the mid- length and ends that creates a messy, sexy, rolled out of bed look , which trumps our well known friend, Baylage.  Ombre isn’t suppossed to be dip-dyed, done in the kitchen, and typically not the best trend for lighter blondes. I keep seeing more and more BAD Ombre, from the red carpet to the streets.

The trick to making Ombre look good is the person wearing it needs to be young and good looking to begin with,  (like all of the hairdressers that I work with) the hair needs to be styled, and the person should also wear at least 1-2 cutting edge articles of clothing so everyone gets the memo that you are open to the latest trends, and not paying to look broke. Whether a trickles down from the celebrity world or trickles up from the streets, it has  be done right. After all, Ombre..means Amber in French..Not Hair on crack.
